Nantong Port sees a record-high shipment value for a single consignment of lithium-battery energy storage cabinets, as 240 units of the “new three” export products safely set sail for Oman.
On March 22, 240 container-style lithium battery energy storage cabinets were successfully and safely shipped from Nantong Tonghai Container Terminal, with a total cargo value of 972 million yuan, setting the highest record since the safe shipment of "New Three Items" cargo from Nantong Port. This batch of goods is carried by the Hong Kong-registered vessel "PACIFIC PROVIDENCE" and is expected to arrive at the Port of Duqm in Oman on April 9.
According to the maritime department, this batch of energy storage cabinets is classified as UN3536 Class 9 dangerous goods, only allowed to be loaded in the cabin area, with strict requirements on the distance from heat sources and living quarters, and high standards for transportation safety control. To ensure the safe and efficient shipment of these "New Three Items" cargo, Nantong Maritime Bureau proactively coordinated with agents and terminals, arranged remote training and guidance, opened a green government service channel, and optimized the approval process. During loading, law enforcement personnel conducted on-site inspections of ship lashing and securing conditions and carried out safety collision publicity for commercial and fishing vessels; during berthing and departure, they comprehensively utilized CCTV, smart maritime systems, and other systems for precise scheduling and maintenance to ensure the safe and smooth entry and exit of vessels.
The safe shipment of this large batch of lithium battery energy storage cabinets is a vivid practice of Nantong Maritime Bureau's regulatory functions and service to the national new energy industry development. It is also a specific measure to help domestic new energy goods enter the international market and promote the high-quality development of Nantong Port's export-oriented economy. Nantong Maritime Bureau will continue to focus on the export transportation needs of "New Three Items" cargo in the jurisdiction, continuously optimize dangerous goods transportation supervision and service measures, accurately connect with enterprise needs, strengthen safety assurance capabilities, and provide more solid and efficient maritime support for Nantong's characteristic industries to go overseas.
