The maritime sector launched a number of initiatives to serve the development of the port Taicang Port in the first quarter of the export of large pieces of high-end equipment growth rate bright
On April 10, reporters learned from the Taicang Maritime Safety Administration that in the first quarter of this year, Taicang Port completed the export of 170 ships transporting major equipment (wind power equipment, bridge components, heavy machinery, etc.), a year-on-year increase of 42.8%. The export of major cargo totaled 345,000 tons and 1.4 million cubic meters, representing year-on-year growth of 20.1% and 14.7%, respectively. The shipping routes covered more than 20 countries and regions, with the demand for transporting high-end major equipment continuing to grow rapidly.
In recent years, the Taicang Maritime Safety Administration has introduced multiple regulatory and service guarantee measures to ensure the safe transportation of high-end major equipment. In terms of regulations and standards, it formulated the "Taicang Port Ship Transporting Major Cargo Safety Supervision Guide." A "one ship, one file" management system was established to achieve full-process tracking and supervision of single-ship transportation. Quarterly terminal operation review meetings are held, and in the first quarter of this year, 18 return flights of bulk cargo ships carrying major equipment were supported, saving enterprises nearly 12 million yuan in transportation costs. Meanwhile, the Taicang Maritime Safety Administration has strengthened technological empowerment by launching the Taicang Port Major Cargo Supervision Service Platform, enabling "one-time application, full-network processing, and full-process traceability." Leveraging big data and AI technology, it provides real-time warnings for risks such as cargo displacement and loose securing, and promotes equipment like AI cameras and drone inspections to achieve "contactless" three-dimensional supervision.
In addition, the Taicang Maritime Safety Administration has optimized government services by offering appointment-based safety inspections to improve the pass rate of ships undergoing foreign PSC inspections. A green channel for approvals has been established, implementing tolerance-based processing and parallel processing to efficiently ensure that ships carrying high-end major equipment can "dock directly, depart directly." The approval time for key route ships entering the port has been reduced from an average of 7 working days to 3 working days.
