Joint Meeting of Yangtze River Waterway Water Emergency Rescue Downstream Area Held
Recently, the 2026 Yangtze River Waterway Emergency Rescue Downstream Regional Joint Meeting was held in Yangzhong, Jiangsu. The meeting was hosted by the Yangtze River Nanjing Water Emergency Rescue Base and co-organized by the Yangtze River Zhenjiang Waterway Office. Representatives from the Yangtze River Waterway Bureau Emergency Rescue Office, downstream waterway units, emergency standby points, professional salvage organizations, and counterpart support units gathered to discuss the collaborative development of emergency rescue in the downstream region.
This meeting focused on deepening the theme of "joint learning, joint training, and joint operations." After watching the promotional video of the Nanjing Rescue Base, participants conducted a comprehensive review of the achievements in key emergency rescue work in the Yangtze River downstream over the past year. They deeply analyzed typical rescue cases and systematically evaluated the results of the remote deep-diving search and rescue drill for a distressed cruise ship in Wuhu, Anhui, in May. Participating units engaged in in-depth discussions and provided suggestions on topics such as capacity building, rescue cases, collaborative mechanisms, and layout optimization.
During the meeting, the Yangtze River Waterway Bureau Emergency Rescue Office outlined four work requirements for future efforts: elevate positioning, identify roles, focus on the core responsibilities of Yangtze River water emergency rescue, adhere to public welfare and bottom-line principles, pursue a path of "differentiated development," continue meaningful work, and innovate in execution; enhance capabilities by strengthening the foundation of large-scale rescue equipment and facilities, promoting the implementation of equipment planning, continuously reinforcing the construction of professional teams, and striving to build a "main force in salvage and special forces in rescue" to ensure "locatable, accessible, and rescuable" operations; strengthen support by improving policies, funding, and technical elements, and promote the establishment of a stable and long-term investment mechanism; deepen collaboration by improving the framework for information sharing, resource sharing, and complementary strengths, comprehensively enhancing cross-departmental, cross-level, and cross-regional emergency response efficiency.
Moving forward, the Nanjing Rescue Base will take this meeting as an opportunity to continuously improve the contingency plan system, deepen practical training, upgrade equipment and facilities, and strengthen the collaborative network. Efforts will be made to implement the meeting's deployments effectively. Relevant units will further build consensus, solidify responsibilities, focus on practical operations, address capacity shortcomings, accelerate the development of intelligent rescue systems, and effectively transform the meeting's outcomes into practical capabilities, ensuring the safety and smooth navigation of the Yangtze River downstream waterways and the safety of people's lives and property.
