The Huai'an lock of the Subei Canal took many measures and ran out of the "acceleration" of the resumption of production after the festival"
China News Service, Huai'an, March 1 (Xu Shanshan, Jia Lu, Pan Jianyi) With the end of the Spring Festival holiday, the resumption of work and production by enterprises along the route is gradually unfolding, and one of the most important "throats" of the northern section of the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal—Huai'an Lock is experiencing a post-holiday shipping peak. The busy scene of cargo ships weaving and fleets like dragons marks the full recovery of this "water artery." As of 8 a.m. on March 1, there were 54 cargo ships waiting to pass through Huai'an Lock, with 4 fleets, and the operation order was orderly.

Qiu Jiansheng, deputy director of Huai'an Navigation Center and director of Huai'an Lock, introduced that in the face of the challenge of a surge in ship traffic after the holiday, Huai'an Lock, with a sense of urgency that "time waits for no one," has fully enhanced operational efficiency through multiple measures such as smart scheduling, green channels, and warm-hearted services. According to statistics, from February 24 to 28, in just five days, Huai'an Lock released an average of 11 fleets and 316 cargo ships per day, with a ship throughput exceeding 770,000 tons. The average daily ship throughput after the holiday increased by 7.46% compared to the Spring Festival period, and it is expected to fully return to normal levels in early March.
Smart scheduling has become the "key move" for speeding up and increasing efficiency. Huai'an Lock actively connects with the centralized dispatch center to build a scheduling network of "up and down linkage, left and right coordination." By optimizing the intelligent scheduling system and increasing the frequency of one-way releases, the average daily release of downstream ships has exceeded 230. Meanwhile, on-site management personnel strengthen inspection and supervision 24 hours a day, ensuring that every ship passes through the lock safely and orderly with a focus on "seeing in all directions and hearing in all directions," achieving a "win-win" of efficiency and safety.
In terms of ensuring the transportation of key livelihood materials, Huai'an Lock continues to open a "water green channel," strictly implementing the "three priorities" policy of priority registration, priority scheduling, and priority release for ships transporting key materials such as coal, grain, fertilizers, and steel, ensuring "zero waiting" for key materials. For dangerous goods ships, the "three lists, three specials, one upgrade" standard is adhered to, with full tracking and escort, cautiously safeguarding water safety as if "walking on thin ice," providing timely support for enterprises to resume work and production.
Convenience services also demonstrate "warmth." Huai'an Lock insists on uninterrupted service, providing convenient facilities such as emergency medicines, shared power banks, free Wi-Fi, and self-service water points in the "small home on the shore" around the clock. A "Party Member Convenience Service Post" is set up, offering innovative measures such as collecting express deliveries and "Koi Flash Delivery" for urgently needed materials, allowing crew members to feel the warmth of "home." The service hotline is online 24 hours, and the "first inquiry responsibility system" ensures that every crew member's request is answered and resolved. (End)
