The Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Bay Area launched its first zero-carbon container shipping line as “穗港电航02” departed from Guangzhou’s Nansha Port to Hong Kong International Container Terminal. Powered by smart pure electric container ships, the line utilizes a modular battery charging and swapping system. This innovative method significantly reduces carbon emissions, saving 550 tons annually and up to 19,000 tons over a ship's lifecycle compared to traditional fuel-powered vessels. The ships are also equipped with an integrated digital platform to improve operational efficiency, highlighting the region's dedication to green and sustainable port development.
