A number of data record high! The construction of Shanghai international shipping center welcomes a good start
The year begins with a sprint, and the start immediately gains momentum. In the first year of the "Fifteenth Five-Year Plan," the construction of the Shanghai International Shipping Center has achieved a "good start," with multiple core data reaching historical highs, whether it's the busy ship traffic of the Maritime Silk Road or the railway arteries connecting the inland and seaports.
At 2 PM, the Luchao Port railway station reaches its peak shipping period. Trains loaded with containers from Yangshan Port are transported to the Yangtze River Delta hinterland through sea-rail intermodal transport. Meanwhile, the "daily class" trains from various parts of the Yangtze River Delta head towards Luchao Port station platform, then "seamlessly connect" to set sail from Yangshan Port. This busy "two-way journey" scene is a vivid reflection of the construction of the Shanghai International Shipping Center since the beginning of this year.
Li Zhong, manager of the transportation safety department at the Shanghai Railway Luchao Port Container Center Station, stated that at the beginning of the new year, a new Taizhou train was added, and the Jiaxing double express train was launched. From January to February, the cumulative container handling volume reached 168,400 TEUs, an increase of about 15% year-on-year.
As a key node of sea-rail intermodal transport, during the Spring Festival, the container handling volume here increased by nearly 50% year-on-year, setting a new historical high for the same period. More and more enterprises in the Yangtze River Delta hinterland are choosing "sea-rail intermodal transport," with goods directly loaded onto trains in Suzhou, Wuxi, Huzhou, and other places, seamlessly connecting to the port for loading onto ships at Luchao Port, truly achieving "one box to the end."
In the Yangshan Port area, there is also a busy scene. Qu Yizhou, a police officer at the border inspection department of the Yangshan Border Inspection Station, told reporters that in February this year, they inspected over 820 international sailing vessels, an increase of about 11% compared to the same period last year.
According to the latest statistics from Shanghai Customs, in the first two months of this year, Shanghai Customs supervised a total of 7,281 international sailing vessels. This means that on average, more than 120 international giant ships dock or depart from this city every day, achieving a steady growth of 2.4% year-on-year, setting a new historical high for the same period.
